Death is rarely a welcome visitor. Even when expected, it always seems to invade and interrupt life. However, the good news of the gospel of Jesus is that death does not have the final say. What's more, this week in John 11, we see Jesus turn an occasion of grief and death into one of glory and life when he raises Lazarus from the dead. How much more then, when he himself, the Son of God dies, only to be raised to life? Death does not have the final say in life, Jesus does! And his word to us is this, "I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who live and believes in me shall never die." So powerful is this life-giving Word in the Son of God, that even a dead man hears it and walks out of his tomb. Hear this life-giving Word! Believe it! And live!
