This multitude of people who followed Jesus had eyes but they could not see, and ears but they could not hear. Instead of 'seeing' Jesus as their Promised Messiah, and with eyes of faith for Who He was, all they saw was the barley loaves and bread that filled their bellies. Jesus then proceeded to teach them about necessary and essential bread for their souls! They murmured when He spoke of Himself as the bread of God, but when He said to them, "The bread I will give is my flesh," many were offended!
