Though persecution may vary in form and measure, however, the Children of God are given the framework for legitimate persecution, (i.e.) 'righteousness β (v10) and Christ β (v11). Therefore, the Christian response to reviling, persecution and defamation, must be β with "exceeding joy and gladness', endure β (v12), in view of the anticipated great reward in heaven, the encouragement of the Saints who were before us (v12 c.f. Heb. 12v1ff) and the exemplified principle of endurance and joyful response set by Christ, when at the apex of the earthly ministryβ Heb. 12v2.
