Acts 21:15-26 – Preaching Truth & Refuting Slander – Sermon Outline Intro: Knowing persecution is coming, Paul is persuaded to try to make peace with believing Jews in Jerusalem. They were zealous for the law to a fault, but were told Paul had forsaken God's law altogether. Need: Paul bends over backwards by keeping the Nazarite vow of purification to show to fellow Jewish believers that though they are freed from these ceremonial aspects of the law, the moral law and reverence for the law of Moses as God gave it to His people prior to Christ was good and righteous for its time. Theme: Preaching hard truths and providing clarity to Christians should go together.
1. Paul reports Gospel success among the Gentiles, and the Jewish leaders rejoice. (15-19) 2. Paul is urged to take a vow to refute reports that he teaches Jews to abandon Moses' law. (20-26)
