A Victory That Began In Defeat!_12 Joshua 7:1-26;8:1-35God had delivered the children of Israel from 430 years of Egyptian slavery and captivity. God had raised up a leader to replace Moses, and he would lead the children of Israel to the land of promise. God had taken them through the formidable waters of the Jordan River, and had brought the walls of Jericho tumbling down. However, in spite of God's wonderful dealings with His people, they not only disobeyed His Word but they disregarded His will. The name Achan means, "Trouble." He more than lived up to his name, because he not only troubled God, but he brought much trouble on Joshua and the children of Israel. What did he do? He disobeyed God's Word.God has not changed his mind, or his description of sin. To God, sin is what it always has been, and what it always will be. To God, there is no such thing as a "big' sin or a "little" sin. Sin is sin! And every sin is the result of the word of God being disobeyed.Search out any Achan in your own life, and get right with God. Don't bother about other people, what they may think, because the blessing of God is worth far more than human opinion.
