Sermon Point: With His agonizing cry, Jesus Chrsist lifts you from despair to praise.
Outline: 1. Psalm 22 presents the Suffering Servant much like Isaiah 53 (Verses 12-18). 2. In the midst of anguish, the Suffering Servant cries out in despair but also rests in praise (Verses 1-2 and 28-31). 3. At the same time, He knows God's holiness, sovereignty, and satisfaction (Verses 3-5 and 26-27). 4. The Suffering Servant therefore pleads God's covenant presence (Verses 11-19). 5. Of course, the Suffering Servant is Jesus Christ (Matthew 27:33-45). 6. He cries out in agony so that you will never ever have to cry out in a similar way (Matthew 27:46).
