What we have here is Gehazi's sin in five parts. He coveted the wealth of Naaman that Elisha had passed on. There was his lie about a sudden, urgent need for it. Which led to the exploitation of a new convert. This sin destroyed the picture that God's salvation is by grace alone. No one can buy it, nor work for it, yet this was how Gehazi now represented it. Lastly he had to tell another lie to cover it up and still he got caught. Still he found out there was a price to pay for even a little sin.
