On Resurrection Sunday, we celebrate the fact that our Savior rose again from the dead after His crucifixion, death and burial. No human expected Him to be alive three days later; even His closest associates were grieving over His death and all it implied. When receiving news of His resurrection, they refused to believe until they saw Him with their own eyes.
The prophet Isaiah, however, saw the travail and triumph of God's Servant about 700 years beforehand and recorded a marvelous prophecy of the suffering of the Servant - the Messiah - and the success of the Servant. We recognize all that the Lord Jesus Christ is and all He has accomplished for us through His death and resurrection. His victory over sin and death provides many benefits to us, including His work of redemption completed in the past on the cross, His present intercession for us, and His future return to snatch us away from the earth to be with Him forever.
