In their final Passover meal with Jesus, the Apostles partake in something unexpected, the institution of what we know as the Lord's Supper. Here, during the Passover feast, Jesus connects the passed and the future to Himself, the perfect Passover Lamb, the One who institutes a new covenant. He offers this blessing to His disciples around the table as He offers this union to us today by faith. However, this covenant offer was not without immeasurable cost. Only a short time after the supper, we find Jesus in anguish over the cup of wrath that is His to drink in order to satisfy the righteous requirements of the Old Covenant, in order the He might redeem His people. Hallelujah! What a Savior.
