Many of the Lord's parables were given in response to a question, as was this one.
New Testament has 3 words for "neighbour" - here it means someone who is near, a close friend. The Saviour is pointing to Himself as the closest friend to the sinner.
1. The ROAD This Man Was Taking
i)Downward Road
Travelling from Jerusalem, all roads lead downwards - the path of the unsaved is a downward path and leads to destruction.
ii)Dangerous Road
This road was notorious as a dangerous road. So also, is the road of life.
This man was travelling ALONE on this treacherous road. Do you face the path of life without a Saviour ?
Thieves stripped this man, and sin will take away our sense of decency. The devil seeks to rob you but most of all he is after your soul.
Give your soul to Christ and He will keep it safe.
2. The RUIN Which Came Upon This Man
i) FALLEN - He fell among thieves - have you fallen into a great sin from which you see no deliverance ? Christ can lift you out !
ii) FAINT - he couldn`t carry on- is that how you feel sometimes along the road of life ?
iii) FRIENDLESS - he had no companion along the road - Jesus Christ is the TRUE Friend, Who sticketh closer than a brother.
3. The Samaritan's -
i)COMPASSION Religion passed this man by - Christ is your only Hope !
The Good Samaritan came to where he was - so will the Saviour.
ii) CARE No-one ever cared for YOU like Jesus. Come to Him now and be saved for all Eternity !
