Great Sermon! I believe there are several things you should consider.
1. Did any prophet fully understand the extent and the application of his prophecy?
2. Did the disciples even as the Lord taught them of the old testament recieve and understand them?
3. There are many gaps in any statement of escatology but they are all limits of men.
4. The view that the Lords return is imminent and he could come at anytime is completely ignored and would make the apostles view of those things happening very soon.
