This is the first of a series of exhortations taken from the letter to the Hebrews, all of wich begin with the words, "Let us." Today's "Let us fear" is not a call to torment or terror, but a call to godly alarm that we would fall short of the rest which Christ has purchased by his finished work on our behalf. It is not a call to observe a certain day of the week be it Saturday or Sunday, as a day of rest. It is, rather, a call to enter fully into the rest of faith, and faith alone, in Christ alone. He himself, is our sabbath rest.
