In Chapter 5 of Ecclesiastes Solomon addresses two issues that result in vanity. The first one is people who speak in the house of God and utter some vow that they do not mean to keep this he calls the sacrifice of fools for the danger they bring upon themselves as God expects a vow to be paid in full. The second is those people who possess riches to their hurt, for they accumulate and increase in wealth only to make it their life long goal and leave it all behind to another. Those who pursue such goals are miserable and do not use their wealth to do good but only to worry and fret over what will happen to their silver and gold or stocks and bonds. Solomon goes on to say what we possess is a gift from God and that we ought to enjoy it while we can rather than to make it a bane of existence.
