This parat of Daniel's prayer brings one face to face with the severe rebukes of God's chastisement, which are here called "curses". Such curses are wrenched from God by acts of willful disobedience. The verses contain four noticeable things: 1) An acknowledgment of the universaility of transgressin within the nation; 2) This transgression brought upon the people the cuses threatened in his Word; 3) God's confirmation of the words of his curse by bringing them to pass; and 4) That the people of Isreael subsequently continued under these curses in their captivity without repentance and faith. The sermon brings out these truths in relation to our nation today and warnings for every Christian--especially the young--that although God takes no delight in afflicting his people, he must and does enforce the plain warnings of his Word.
