Imagine what a difference it would have made in Joseph's life if, during those 13 years that he languished as a slave and a prisoner in Egypt, he knew that he would one day be exalted to sit beside pharaoh, to rule with him, and to have all the wealth and honor of a prince of Egypt. Would not the revelation of the approaching light have sustained him and encouraged him through the times of darkness? The exaltation that Joseph experienced was merely a picture of what God has in store for us. Joseph was honored by pharaoh. Jesus said those who serve Him will be honored by His Father. Joseph had the wealth of Egypt at his disposal. The Apostle Paul said that we are 'heirs of God,' and that 'all things are yours.' Joseph was made like pharaoh in position and appearance. We will be made like Christ, our bodies made like unto 'His glorious body.' We can be assured of our exaltation because God promises it. We just don't know when the time will be. But knowing it is coming should change our perspective as we experience the trials of this life, just as a man who has lost his home and job would have a different perspective if he knew he was about to receive great wealth. Christian, YOU are going to be EXALTED, even as Joseph was.
