Has anyone ever asked you the question, have you been saved? I have asked the questions to some people at various times and places. I remember talking to one individual, and he mentioned that he was saved from death during a car wreck. He said, “I know God was watching over me and must have a purpose for me since I did not die.” While it is true that this man’s physical life was spared from death, I want us to be certain that it is not equal to eternal salvation. In our passage today, we are introduced to some men who are servants of the Most High God. This title alone should cause all the “saved” to realize the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. These servants were going about from city to city and proclaiming a way of salvation. They were telling people about how to be “saved.” One man in our passage today even asks the question, “What must I do to be saved?” This man was a prison guard in the local jail in the city of Philippi. He had everyone in stocks and behind bars until an earthquake came. The Philippian jailer was shaken by the events, however, his fear and trembling was not physical in nature. There was a solemnness that came over him, and he considered the words of God’s servants. Today, the title to the message will be “Saved.” I would like for us to consider the following from this text 1) The Message of Salvation Troubles the Soothed 2) The Message of Salvation Soothes the Troubled 3) The Message of Salvation Troubles and Soothes.
