When Nehemiah heard the news that Jerusalem was in great trouble, he wept and fasted and prayed. He was grieved at the people's sin and confessed this sin to God. He pleads with God for repentance, that the people would return to God, and the wall would be rebuilt around Jerusalem so that the people could worship God in peace from enemies. We are also in a battle and must put on the whole armor of God. The one weapon we are given to fight is the sword of the Spirit - the Word of God. We must never neglect the Word and prayer, it is our wall of defense.
