Nationally known film critic Roger Ebert passed away at the age of 70 yrs. old. He grew as up a Roman Catholic, but later in his life he stopped believing in God. In an interview, Ebert said "Catholicism made me a humanist before I knew the word. This is so sad and tragic. Here was a man who grew up in a false religion and he was so mislead that he finally reached a point that he just gave up, and he refused to believe that there was any possibility of the existence of a True God. But can you really blame him when you think of the god that the Roman Catholics teach about. Hard mean and uncaring. Vindictive and eager to destroy you, and always demanding every material thing you can give. Then you can never have any real assurance of salvation because so many things must be right in order for the RCC to allow Mary to allow God to allow you into heaven. Then you add his own sin nature into the picture and you have a situation where Total Depravity meets false religion and there is just no way Roger Ebert or anyone else is going to believe in Jesus as their exclusive savior and Lord. Ephesians 2:1–10 (ESV) ‎By Grace Through Faith ‎2 And you were dead in the trespasses and sins 2 in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience— 3 among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind.
