i) His Humanity - "...but this Man..." (v12) The Lord Jesus was wearied, He slept, He wept, but always remember - He never sinned
ii) His Diversity - "BUT" (v12)
in v 11 - "every priest" - but here there is only ONE !
in v 11 many sacrifices - but here only ONE !
v 11 those sacrifices could not take away sin - HIS DID !
the priests offered animals - Christ offered HIMSELF !
2. THE GREATNESS OF HIS PERFORMANCE
i) Its Substance - "offered one sacrifice for sins forever" (v12)
sin can only be dealt with on the basis of a sacrifice-your only hope is Christ`s sacrifice for sin
ii) Its Success - v 12 "sat down"- the Work was complete-God was satisfied !
3. THE ILLUSTRIOUSNESS OF HIS PRE-EMINENCE
v 12 "on the right Hand of God" - His Exaltation - He had to rise from the dead to do so - religious leaders, statesmen, their remains are in their graves, but UP FROM THE GRAVE HE AROSE! We serve a Risen Saviour! The tomb is empty ! Is He Pre-Eminient in your life ?
4. THE CHEERINESS OF HIS PROSPECT
v 13 " From henceforth expecting till His enemies be made His footstool. "
i) Conquest - over every enemy - remember those who will not receive Christ as Saviour are also His enemy
ii) Humiliation - "footstool" compare Joshua 10:24 - "Come near, put your feet upon the necks of these kings."- indicates complete subjugation
