As we come to Paul's final exhortations in Romans 13, we find a centralizing theme of new life in Christ Jesus, comprised of an urgent call for Christians to live as those who have been brought into union with Christ Jesus and to live as though ready for His return. Paul emphasized the need to cast off sinful behaviors associated with darkness and instead embrace a life of light which has been revealed to us from God's Word. This passage highlights the disparity and contradiction between living in the old era of sin and clothing oneself with the new identity of redeemed life. Live in light of eternity, the coming judgment, and freedom in Christ Jesus.
