Observations: Matthew presents Jesus as the Isaianic servant of the Lord...
1. Who has a forerunner announcing his coming.
2. Who by his great work, will by the power of God, wort to create a new people consisting of a restored remnant and new stones, all hewn from the rock of Abraham in whom a blessing was to be found for all the nations of the world.
3. Who's ministry is intimately accompanied with the Spirit of the Lord.
4. Who brings about the anticipated and longed for outpouring of the Spirit in the coming reign of the messiah king who would bring about the transformation of his people.
5. Who identifies with his people in such a way that on their behalf he fulfills all the righteousness God requires of them in both his active and passive obedience to all God has required.
6. Who is chosen, precious, and beloved like a son.
7. Who brings about the full transformation of his people in recapitulating their work which ended in failure in the wilderness with his triumphant provenness.
8. Who intercedes for the people bringing about not only their own restoration and transformation, but extending the reach of his great prayers and propitiatory work for the benefit of the nations of the world.
