Jacob and Esau were brothers, but that is all they had in common. Esau was a cunning hunter and Jacob was a plain man, dwelling in tents. Esau would be the pick of most people. He would be the most admired and looked up to because of his worldly success and the physical strength he projected. But Esau was a profane man who despised the birthright and anything that had to do with God and his promises. Jacob was Israel, a prince with God. What a contrast when the two meet after 20 years of separation! There are many lessons for us in how godly Jacob handled this situation where everything he had was at stake.
