The Valley of Slaughter - Jeremiah 7:29-34 1.) The Horrific Activity 2.) The Proper Explanation 3.) The Fitting Judgment
2 Timothy 3:16-17 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works. The horrific activity is the children of God, Judah, sacrificing their Children to the idol Molek. Read 2 Kings 23:10, Jeremiah 7:29-34; Jeremiah 32:35-37 The proper explanation is three fold: 1.) Judah broke the antithesis. Psalm 106:34-38 2.) Judah broke the 2nd commandment. Did not worship God as he commands. Jeremiah 7:31 3.) Judah broke the 1st commandment. Worshipped another god. Jeremiah 8 Therefore God in his judgment gave Judah over to the sacrificing their children by taking away natural affection. Romans 1: 21-32. This is the same explanation for the horrific sin of abortion in this country. Today’s idol worship is worship on one’s self. Selfish and self-worship. Pro-choice is idolatry of self! My choice! Not God’s choice? Not the unborn Child’s choice to be murdered? But MY CHOICE! Idolatry of self. The fitting judgment is destruction of Judah with the Babylonian captivity which is a type/picture of the judgment of God to everlasting damnation to hell. Our response is three fold and is a response of the heart. 1. Gratitude 2. Urgency 3. Awe: Look at Vs. 32 “which I commanded them not, neither came it into my heart.” God and his son: Jesus Christ who was willingly offered up for us and our sins.
