On April 1, 2021, officers with the Rock Island Police Department (IL), while attempting to arrest a suspect trying to flee in a stolen car, had to use deadly force to stop the suspect's attack. Two officers received minor injuries during the incident.
On April 2, Tony stood outside the Rock Island Police Department holding a sign that read: "Law Enforcement Lives Matter (Romans 13:1-5; Acts 10:1-48)." About an hour into Tony's time there, a man arrived with his own large sign, which read: "Murderers Work Here."
This caught the attention of a local news station (WQAD, an ABC affiliate). A reporter and cameraman arrived to interview both Tony and the man holding the other sign.
The interview afforded Tony the opportunity to communicate the gospel to the news crew, while expressing support for the law enforcement community.
