It’s a miracle, really. The single white crocus blooming near our front door has somehow escaped the cold, the deer, the UPS guy, and my own careless footfalls. If I stare at that crocus, I see it’s an unbelievably beautiful work of creation. Its very existence glorifies God. But most days I pay no attention to it – familiarity numbs me to its wonder. John the Apostle wrote his first epistle to Christians prone to grow underwhelmed with the wonder of their new birth. “... These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life...” 1 John 5:13 (NKJV) Today, we’re prone to get bogged down in the world’s false priorities and messages, thinking of eternal life only as some distant reality. It’s not. To be born again is to enjoy the very life of God now... not just in the future.
