The WATERS of MEROM Battle. Joshua 11:1-23;12:1-24As chapter eleven begins, the drama and excitement of the battle continues. The chapter continues to drip with the blood from the battlefields of Canaan Land. Here we find the last great Canaanite coalition rising up to oppose God's people, led by King Hazor. Did he assume that Israel was too tired to fight? Did he conclude that the southern region lost because they had no chariots or horses? This coalition assembles from the whole land .... the mountains, the plains, the valley and the border. Chinneroth was the early name for the Sea of Galilee. It means "harp" and refers to the harp-like shape of this sea. They were as the sand of the seashore which means a whole Lotta folks showed up! This by far was the most bloody and violent battle. in a conflict, there are no alternatives except victory or defeat. There is no neutral ground. Defeat the enemy or obstacle or else it will control you. In our fight with evil we have a divine Captain to follow. When we courageously obey Him, He makes us more than conquerors.
