Sermon Outline for Sunday, March 27, 2016 Elder R. Rubino, Pastor. Resurrected Empire! I Text: Old Covenant : Haggai 1:1-11; 2:1-9 New Covenant: John 2:12-25 II Doctrine: The old covenant Temple was where God’s people were commanded to focus their worship. The standing temple was a concrete reminder of God’s covenant with His people. The old covenant would be replaced when God finally rejected those who desecrated His covenant. This was fulfilled completey in 70 A.D. with the destruction of the temple and Jerusalem itself. A New covenant requires a new temple. The resurrection of Jesus the Messiah was the central event which began the new Covenant. A new indestructible “Temple” built without the hands of men would be the center of our worship. Let us not repeat the mistake of God’s ancient people by rejecting the covenant and neglecting the Temple. III Reasons: 1) Nature itself shows all structures beginning with a foundation or nucleus. Creation attests to God’s existence and nature. (Romans 1:20) 2 The family model is God’s nucleus for dominion. (Genesis 2:18) 3) Men and families who cannot govern themselves according to God’s word are slaves already. The physical chains come later. (Hosea 4:1-7) IV Application: 1) The pattern for true Christian dominion starts with a Man following God’s commands. (Ephesians 5:8-21) 2) Husbands exemplify these principles in marriage. (Ephesians 5:22-33) 3) Fathers apply these principles in raising children. (Ephesians 6:1-4)
