We have been out of Romans for a few weeks, but surely you remember that Romans 9, 10 and 11 is especially focused on the question of the Gospel and Israel: If Israel is God’s chosen people, why is it so Gospel-resistant? …and… If Israel is so Gospel-resistant, is it still God’s chosen nation? …i.e… Has God rejected Israel? As we read our text this morning we will see the answer in verse 2: God has not rejected Israel, and never will; the proof is, that out of Israel, God has chosen and protects a remnant. Then Because Israel has rejected God’s Son, but because God has not rejected Israel; Israel is comprised of two groups: The remnant in verses 1–6 and the rest in verses 7–10.
