"Miriam, Daughter of Yocheved" The 24th of Nissan, 2448 (April 14, 1313 BCE) was approximately 3,337 years ago from today. On this Resurrection morning, we turn our attention to Miriam, the daughter of Yocheved, a woman of courage, conviction, and prophetic praise. In Exodus 15:20–21, we find Miriam taking up her timbrel in triumph, leading the women of Israel in a celebratory dance after God miraculously delivered His people through the Red Sea. This moment of spontaneous praise is not just a historical note—it is a prophetic foreshadowing of the victory believers celebrate on Easter Sunday. This sermon explores Miriam's life as a tapestry of faith, deliverance, and resurrection hope. From watching over baby Moses at the Nile to leading a nation in praise, Miriam's journey reflects how God raises up ordinary people for extraordinary moments. She was more than a sister—she was a prophetess, a worship leader, and a voice of hope in a newly liberated generation. On Easter, we celebrate the ultimate act of deliverance: the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the grave.Just as the Red Sea was split open to bring Israel out of bondage, so the tomb was opened to bring us out of death into eternal life. Miriam's song of praise becomes our song of resurrection.Let us, like Miriam, lift up our timbrels and voices in celebration today. For He who parted the sea has also conquered the grave! |
