Nicholas von Amsdorf lived from 1483 to 1565. He and Luther and Melancthon were best of friends. He was with Luther when Frederick the Wise feigned Luther's abduction in order to protect him. Von Amsdorf is the first signer of the Magdeburg Confession. His impact upon the Reformation was massive.
