The work of the missionary is always a work of faith because it is always guided in everything by unseen realities. It defies the wisdom and comprehension of a mere natural man that a raw heathen can be subdued and renewed by nothing but the Gospel of the love of God in Christ.
Paul commended the Thessalonian believers for their exemplary faith. The city of Thessalonica was the hub of commerce in 'Macedonia,' the northern part of Greece. They demonstrated their faith by both spreading the Word themselves everywhere they went and by sacrificially supporting missionaries like the Apostle Paul. Because of their obedient faith, within just a short space of time, the Gospel had 'reverberated' around the world! We would do well to learn from them what 'faith missions' is all about.
The Great Commission is still in effect. It calls us to a supernatural work which can only be accomplished by dependence upon a supernatural power. The Macedonian believers are proof that if we give ourselves and our pocket books to God for the purpose of world evangelization, He will do amazing things. The greatest cause in all the world is missions. Are we willing to live for it? Give to it? Work for it? Speak for it? Pray for it?
