By the end of Luke 23, Jesus has been tried, crucified & laid in a tomb. The tomb has been sealed, a Roman guard (as few as 4 soldiers, but up to 16) has been set. A couple days earlier the religious leaders had approached Pilate about securing the tomb (until the 3rd day) to silence any would be rumors or deception of a resurrection. Because Jesus had announced on multiple occasions that He would rise from the dead on that day, Luke 24 is that day.
