This is the beginning of a study of Paul’s first epistle, the epistle to the Church at Thessalonica. This is the first epistle that Paul ever wrote. Thessalonica was a Roman Colony city, right in the heart of the Roman empire, with a rich, long and varied history. Here Paul had brought the Gospel and now is writing to them concerning their lives as believers who are already suffering for their faith in Jesus Christ. Here we look at two of the three things Paul commends them for: their work of faith, their labor of love. As we look at the chapter we find Paul enlarges on these two things at the end of the chapter.
