God designed us with the unique capacity to reflect His character – to glorify God. When we rebelled against God in the garden, the image of God was radically flawed. Instead of gladly acknowledging our submission to Him as the creator and sustainer of life, we went our own way seeking to wrestle free of His rule. The resulting futility finds us seeking life in people and things that cannot provide life. Whenever we try to get life (identity, satisfaction, affirmation, etc.) from the creation instead of the Creator, we are guilty of idolatry. God has blessed us with wonderful gifts including our sexuality, but the gift must always take a ‘back-seat' to the Giver.
