Even though the disciples are aware of Jesus' resurrection, they are still unsure of their mission. Confused, Peter and the others return to their old occupation of fishing, but with little success. It is here that Jesus appears and directs His disciples to cast their net on the right side of the boat. When they return to shore, the disciples find that Jesus has prepared fish and bread for their breakfast.
Jesus meets the needs of His disciples, even when the catch of fish is not necessary for their mission. Jesus' response shows us that in our concern for others, we are not to judge them but rather are to give each of our brothers and sisters the freedom and encouragement to be responsive to Jesus as Lord.
