This was the Sunday morning message from Princess Chapel Church in Ashland, KY by the Pastor, Douglas Salyer. This sermon was titled; A FREE, MORAL, AGENT.
The key text used was taken from the Gospel of John 17:1-3. The High Priestly Prayer of Jesus, the key verse is verse number two.
As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him.
Martin Luther, the Augustinian Monk, that almost 500 years ago on October 31, 1517 nailed his 95 theses to the University’s Chapel door in Wittenberg, Germany wrote “The Bondage of the Will,” in 1525.
This work is still in print today. Under the title on the first page of the reading are the words, “What the Scriptures Teach.” It is so sad how the so called evangelical churches in the world of today have gotten so far, far away from the truth of the Scripture.
Men will stand behind the sacred stand, open this hallowed book, then utter unholy and heretical words such like that man is a “free, moral, agent.” But my friend, he is not, Not by any means, The Bible teaches otherwise.
Ephesians 2:1-3 tells us that we are: - A Spiritual Corpse: -dead in trespasses and sins. Spiritually Cursed: -walked according to the course of this world. Spiritually Condemned: - you were by natural a child of wrath, even as others also.
Free – Moral – Agent; where is the morality in that of such a fallen, profane creature?
This sort of creature without God’s grace will reject His truth, they will reject His holiness because the will is indeed in bondage.
We are not free, nor moral, so therefore we need an Agent, the only agent man can turn to is the LORD Jesus Christ.
