The true symbol of Easter is not an egg, or a bunny, or even a lily, but an empty tomb! The fact of the empty tomb bears silent but eloquent witness that Jesus arose from the dead and is “alive for evermore.” Satan knows that the literal physical resurrection of Jesus Christ is the cornerstone of the Christian faith. Therefore he relentlessly attacks the credibility of the gospel accounts through pseudo-scholarship that claims to be on a “quest for the historical Jesus” and receives plenty of coverage by the secular media.
The women who came on that first Easter morning to embalm Jesus' body with spices could not account for the empty tomb. They did not yet understand the scriptural prophecies about Jesus' resurrection, and so they were seeking the living among the dead. Millions today are looking for spiritual life in the wrong places also.
Eternal life is found only in the resurrected Christ. He has life in Himself, and He has the power to confer it on others (John 5:26; 17:2). “He that hath the Son hath life.” Quit looking in the wrong places for life, fulfillment, and satisfaction. Seek Jesus as He is – risen, ascended, glorified. Seek Him where He is – seated at the right hand of God, where He has been given all power and authority.
