In our world, many wicked men seek to control the very bodies of other people. We see this with illegal arrests, jailings, torture, kidnappings, murders. Rogues come in all forms: thugs, government officials, soldiers, even policemen.
Last week we learned of the illegal arrest of a local citizen who broke no law, and disobeyed no command. Yet the police arrested him and charged him with made-up crimes.
Scriptures are full of examples of unlawful arrests of believers. The Jewish leaders arrested and imprisoned the apostles because they wouldn't stop preaching Christ and the resurrection. Even today, Christians are tortured and murdered by those who would control and dominate their very bodies.
In a world where we are not safe from such evil, the Lord Jesus is the only man we ought to entrust ourselves to!
After all, He showed that nobody could wrest control of His person from Him at any time. Even as He hung in shame upon the Cross, our Lord Jesus was in complete control of His body, for He deliberately submitted His body as an offering for our sin. Even in the grave, our Lord had the power to take His life to Himself, and He did so that glorious Sunday morning!
In Whom else ought we to place our complete trust than the Savior, One Who cannot be dominated by anybody, but has all power - surely, Christ is the proper person into Whose hands we place our bodies, souls and spirits!
Indeed, this is what it means to trust in Jesus fully.
Christ's personal care for His people was foretold in Scripture. It was said that He would carry us in His arms like little lambs.
His offering of His body as our substitute is why nobody can snatch us out of His hands!
