In Colossians 2:1-5 we see the heart of Paul for the heart of the Church. Paul is willing to strive to the point of agony even for believers he doesn't know. The Colossian believers may be in danger from opposition and need to be steadfast.
And in this text Paul's heart is that their heart would be strengthened in Christ. For if the supreme Christ reigns supreme in the heart of believer, then the whole man is His. And what flows from such a heart is a supernatural mutual love lived out in the church, producing a deep assurance in Christ, which brings about a real, experiential, personal knowledge of Christ. And, thus, the believer can stand firm and steadfast.
