The previous sermons examining the identity of the people of God in the age of fulfillment focused more on its individual constituent members. They sought to answer the question of who is now a part of the covenant community. But the individualism associated with God's household is secondary to its corporate nature and function. This message considers the structure of God's covenant household (His Church) in terms of the two New Testament descriptors of Corporate Sanctuary and Body of Christ. These metaphors are widely acknowledged and employed in the Christian community, but few seem to understand what they actually signify and imply. The proof of this is the general waywardness and lack of definition and clear purpose that plague multitudes of local churches. The Church's lack of faithful adherence to its calling indicates its lack of self-understanding. The Church must know what it is if it is to be what it is.
