God told Noah that He was going to put an end to the earth because of the violence of the people. The only thing that gives life valuable is God. God has the right to take life and the right to give life. God chose who He would save, and He chose Noah and his family. People had sinned so grievously that God was grieved. Noah, though not sinless, was blameless in God's eyes, and Noah did everything that God commanded. Our sinful human hearts always want to second-guess God.
