For the Christian there is no more important and glorious day that Easter Sunday. This is the day that Jesus Christ literally and bodily rose from the grave. He had been brutally crucified, was buried, and then was mightily raised from the dead. In this sermon I will expound the text indicated above, relating the resurrection of the believer to that of Christ. In the text the apostle Paul contrasts the present body of the believer with the future resurrection body. He describes the present body as being perishable, dishonorable, weak, and natural. Although our present bodies are marvelous things to behold, they are inherently limited and they are seriously flawed because of sin. But in the resurrection we will have a new body, for God has said that He will transform our lowly bodies to be like His glorious body. So, there is a direct connection between Christ's resurrection and ours. After developing his thought, I try to draw out the implications with respect to what the Bible refers to as a “living hope.” May the Lord help us to hear His word preached; to receive it into our hearts; and to apply it with spiritual wisdom!
