Family Worship Guide Memory Verses: Philippians 2:8-9
Day 1: Read 2 Sam 16:5-8 Why did Shimei hate David? Consider your own life: have you ever assumed certain things about someone else only to be proven wrong? If so, describe these situations and what you learned from them. How long had Shimei harbored his hatred? What was the longest amount of time you ever held a grudge against someone? What was the outcome of that situation?
Day 2: Read 2 Sam 19:15-20 What was Shimei's motivation in his confession? Which verses would you use to prove your answer? What are good reasons to confess? What are bad reasons?
Day 3: Read 1 Kings 2:36-45 Thinking back to the questions from Day 2, how would you demonstrate Shimei's actual lack of genuine repentance from this passage?
