This destruction was complete in that all the cities perished along with the inhabitants and the region of the plain. This area was as fertile as the Garden of Eden until this destruction. Now it is only arid desert. In fact there has been much Archeological excavation in this region to find any traces of these cities and none can be found. Biblical critics use this as their evidence that the Biblical account of these events is false. The truth is that when God destroys it is complete. Only God can create and only God can destroy. Humans can only convert matter from one state to another. The Hebrew word for this verb to overthrow parallels the New Testament Greek word which gets translated into English as cataclysm. It is a technical term for complete and total destruction. What our critics fail to understand through their Satanic induced blindness is that the Lord Jesus affirmed these events when He spoke of these events as a parallel to the Great Tribulation (Luke 17: 32-33). Warned by the angels to not look back (Genesis 19: 17) Lot’s wife nevertheless wanted to hang on to the good life she had back in Sodom. The Lord’s affirmation of these events in Luke 17 confirms that and lets us know that we should be ready to leave this earth to be with Him at the Rapture and Resurrection at any time. However if we love it so much here we will not be willing to leave. Some are so entrenched here that they can’t believe that Heaven will be better. She perished and became a pillar of salt.
