Christians do not seem to understand the will of God.
After something happens—both positive and negative, believers are in the bad habit of saying, "I guess it or that was the will of God for this to have happened." Or "Well, if it is the will of God such and such will happen or be the outcome." This is neither a healthy or a biblical practice.
God's will is not always done, but before I delve into the message, I want to cover some general areas of concern during our current situation: I am concerned about:
• I am concerned about churches that will have to shutter their doors because of the government mandates, never to reopen.
• I am concerned about the government overreach in every area of our lives that may become accepted as the new norm following this pandemic.
• I am concerned about the hype and panic and control created by the media's exaggeration and misinformation campaign that will have a lasting impact upon the people of this country.
Misunderstanding the will of God is so detrimental.
• It is not the will of God for anyone to perish in hell, but people do (2 Peter 3:8-10)
• It is not the will of God for everyone to be healed or to avoid sickness (I could use hundreds of examples like the Apostle Paul when he prayed three times for healing. All of us should have this attitude, but consider the story concerning Lazarus. (John 11:1-5, 39)
• God can and will use sickness and even death for His glory. The next chapter gives us further understanding (John 12:10)
• Will of God to look at sickness as a way for God to demonstrate His glory (John 9:1-5)
2 Corinthians 1:8-10 we should not trust in ourselves
