She knew she had discovered a prophet because this prophet had discovered her. Before this prophet she ventures a question. “Sir, I perceive that You are a prophet. Our fathers worshiped on this mountain, and you Jews say that in Jerusalem is the place where one ought to worship.” Basically, she asks, “How can “I” worship God?” This is the most important question you can ask. When you ask this question, you are drawing in near to the heart of God. She didn’t ask the question just so. In fact, she didn’t really phrase a question at all. What she did was speak out her confusion. The Lord Jesus reads the question in the statement and begins to share with her what worship is by addressing her confusion and misunderstanding and misconceptions about worship. He tells her what worship is not. “Woman believe me…”
