God has called us to be His Special Agents in this world, representing Him and sharing the good news of the gospel with others. He's not called us to be SECRET Agents, undercover Christians. At the death of Jesus, two closet followers of Christ will publicly display their love and devotion to Christ at the time when his more outspoken followers are hiding behind locked doors in their closest. I'm thinking of the two undertakers; Joseph of Arimathea and Nicodemus. Who are they? What do they hold in common? Why did they keep quiet about their faith in Christ? What made them come out and publicly declare their allegiance to Christ at this time? And then, lastly, what does it take for you and I to be public disciples of Christ! May we, like them, linger at the cross, drink in the love that Christ has for us, and then out of love for Him and in the power of the Spirit, let's muster the courage and pay the cost of being Christ's special agents of God's grace to this lost and dying world! |
