Lesson: Hurting People Can Trust Christ Because He is Greater than Disease & Even Death.
Jairus was Hurting; The Hemorrhaging Woman was Hurting
NOTES & QUOTES: Mark (5:26) says she had suffered a great deal under the care of many doctors and had spent all she had, yet...she grew worse.
The sick woman was getting worse: -her health situation was worse -her money situation was worse, and "no one could help her"(v.43).
"When no one could help her that's precisely when Jesus stopped the woman's bleeding."
Jesus draws our attention to one important quality that brought blessing & relief to both Jairus and the hurting woman: "faith"(vv.48 & 50)
"In Jairus there is much to learn, if you can believe it: Jesus is not only greater than sickness; Jesus is even greater than death."
APPLICATION: Dear Friends, You think you have problems now, but your problems now are NOTHING compared to that last problem you face - ‘death’. Death will take everything from you. Death will steal everything you own –it will steal your friends, your family, your job, your health; It will steal your money, your future...everything! Yet, if you can believe it, Jesus is greater than your greatest problem – even death itself.
Since Christ is greater than sickness & death, surely he is great enough to help you handle life’s lesser problems.
Jesus said, elsewhere: Yes, "in this world you will have trouble but take heart; I have overcome the world" (John 16:33).
