Last month we dealt with the first set of tests that John gave in his letter designed to assure us of our salvation. These tests were all based on testing our attitude toward sin. If we had the right attitudes toward sin we had evidence of salvation in our lives. Tonight we are going to look at three additional tests John gives in the next sections of chapter 2. These tests do not fall into a single category, but they each serve to test for the presence of salvation by testing for products produced by salvation. If salvation is present in our life there will have tangible products for which we can test. Salvation will produce results. These results can be tested and observed to produce assurance that we have true salvation. We can test for salvation by looking for its results in our lives.
