1Samuel 5:1-12 continues to tell us what happens when the Ark of the Covenant is captured by the Philistines. When the Philistines place it beside their god Dagon, the idol is found face-down before the Ark. As this account unfolds we see that the Lord does not need human hands, because the hand of God is powerful, heavy, fearful, yet merciful. So we are to humble ourselves before the mighty hand of God, remembering His power, repenting of sin, worshiping His glory, and resting in His mercy.
